Picking Apples at Avalon Orchards

Eating freshly picked ripe fruits is the healthiest way to consume food. When we learned about Avalon Orchards, a certified organic apple orchard in Innisfil Ontario, we decided to check it out. We were assisted by friendly people and a serene atmosphere. On arrival to the orchard, we parked by a beautiful sunflower patch and then explored the grounds (where a tee-pee sits). Our walk through the (dwarf) apple trees was amazing- it's not often you can walk along and pick organic apples and eat them on the spot! Once we filled our bag with 'Freedom' and 'Novamac' apples, we headed back into the barn where we were kindly offered a small drink of fresh apple cider. Avalon Orchards apple cider is available at Farmer's market around the city, including Trinity Bellwoods park. We enjoy drinking it hot and cold and also incorporate it into our salads as a vinaigrette. We recommend you give it a try!

' It is remarkable how closely the history of the apple tree is connected with that of man.' - Henry David Thoreau
