Organic Seaweed Wraps with Guacamole - Raw

Long term exposure to radiation is extremely unhealthy for our bodies. The excessive use of mobile and cordless phones is no exception. When our bodies lack iodine, it takes in radioactive iodine that causes 'diseases' such as cancer! But if our bodies have a sufficient amount of iodine, it doesn't take on the radioactive iodine that is present in the environment. It's important to have iodine rich foods in our diet in order to protect ourselves from radiation. Seaweeds are abundant in iodine, magnesium, potassium, sodium, calcium, zinc, copper, chloride, sulfur, phosphorous, vanadium, cobalt, manganese, selenium, bromine, arsenic, iron, and fluorine. When eaten raw, they are rich with enzymes. For our latest raw recipe, we made 'Kelp Seaweed Wraps with Guacamole'. Very tasty and easy to make! Check out our recipe below. Enjoy!

Green Curry With Turnip 'Rice' And Lentils

Some of our raw dinners contain one or two cooked elements/ingredients that gets predigested with the enzymes raw foods provides. We do not eat anything cooked without adding a sufficient amount of enzymes to predigest the food. Last week we didn't have cauliflower for cauliflower 'rice', so we decided to try out 'turnip' rice, with some green curry sauce made with raw coconut milk.
Turnips enhance blood purification. They are high in vitamin K and have antioxidant and anti-inflammatory benefits. Lentils are high in folic acid which allows for cellular growth and DNA repair. Coconut meat has enzymes, so we didn't heat it after we prepared our home made coconut milk. This recipe is served at room temperature but is very tasty! Give it a try. Enjoy!

'A genuine leader is not a searcher for consensus but a molder of consensus'

Quote by: Martin Luther king Jr.
Dave Meslin is a Toronto based artist and organizer involved in a variety of urban projects. I decided to write a post about his 'TED' talk because I felt it was similar to the issue of food and health - the public not being provided with accurate information about health and food labels, as well as the important role that the media plays in affecting our views about what healthy food really is, and how we are discouraged from being involved.

Dave Meslin believes most people don't lack interest or desire for a positive change in the world, but that the system we live in, actively discourages engagement. Our municipal government, for example, whose duty is to provide the public with local services, safety and infrastructure, discourages such behavior by failing to display accurate, visually appealing and clear information when a city project is proposed. It fails to peek the public's interest to engage in the project, by not asking to hear from the public and by providing 'unreadable' public notices - which limits understanding.

The media also plays a major role in our views and involvement towards political change. It discourages public engagement by focusing more attention on celebrities and scandals. In the media, political articles fail to provide any information, such as contact information or follow up stories, that can allow for the people to be politically involved in their community.

In the case of charities, according to the 'Charitable Purpose, Advocacy and the Income Tax Act', Section 149.1, the common law prevents charities from engaging in 'political' activities. 'Judges have reasoned that by engaging in political activity, the charity enters into debate over a policy that may or may not be a public benefit, rather than working towards an accepted public benefit.' This is seen as a serious problem because Dave Meslin feels that the most passionate and informed voices in society will remain silent, especially during election time.

Dave presents circumstances that are backed up by the law, the people and spaces that are around us, and by the way we interact with each other and the government. In order to live in a better community, you have to be actively involved. Heroism/leadership is imperfect and voluntary. It comes from within, following your own dream, uninvited, and working with those who can make your dream a reality. You can check out his TED talk here. Enjoy!

Zucchini 'Pasta' With Pesto Sauce - Raw

Zucchini 'pasta' provides an excellent source of antioxidants that protect our cells from damage, caused by free radicals. It is a healthier alternative to grain pasta, since it is not cooked. It will provide you with live enzymes, that predigest food, so you don't waste metabolic enzymes that are needed for rebuilding healthy cells. We learned about 'Zucchini Pasta With Basil Pesto Sauce' from Dr. Bergman's video on 'enzymes'. We added nuts to our recipe, but it is optional to use if you decide to try it out. This was our first time trying homemade basil pesto sauce. It tasted amazing and is also very nutritional and live with enzymes. Basil is an excellent blood cleanser and contributes to healthier liver function. Give it a try! See recipe below.

Healthy Green Coffee

Regular coffee does not contain the health benefits that organic green coffee bean extract has to offer! Organic green bean extract contains 20 mg of caffeine per serving, compared to a minimum of 100 mg for regular coffee. The low caffeine content does not allow it to act as a stimulant in making you feel nervous or jittery. It contains antioxidants and anti-inflammatory properties and helps lower blood pressure
Organic coffee is free of dangerous chemicals and safer to consume than regular coffee. Regular, non organic coffee, is one of the most widely pesticide/herbicide sprayed crops in the world, with over 1000 toxic chemicals found after roasting!
We love drinking coffee and had been coffee drinkers for many years, but for almost 2 years now, we switched to organic decaf coffee - to lower our caffeine intake. We have a cappuccino machine that we fire up from time to time for decaf lattés, espresso baking and rooibos espresso shots. Since we've learned about organic green bean extract, we are interested in trying it out and will share our results in an upcoming post. Stay tuned.

Homemade Tomato Sauce - Raw

Lycopene, found in tomatoes and beta-carotene found in carrots, are two of the chief carotenoids that help prevent strokes due to it's antioxidant properties. For our latest raw food recipe, we created a 100% raw tomato sauce, which can be incorporated in a variety of foods and aid in the predigestion of cooked foods. Raw garlic activates enzymes in the liver that help flush out toxins from your body! Because raw garlic is too strong in flavor, we came up with a couple of methods to tolerate raw garlic in raw foods. Both garlic and onions need a sitting time of 5-10 minutes minimum in order to gain their nutrients whether cooked or raw. When you thinly slice garlic and let it sit for a minimum of 15 minutes, it is also milder in flavor if eaten raw. See recipe below. This recipe is packed with flavor and enzymes! Enjoy!

The Birth Of Abnormal Behaviour

The symptoms of ADHD include lack of attention, impulsive behaviour and hyperactivity. A main cause of these symptoms in children is pressure on the nervous system. When there is pressure or an abnormality on the spine, which is located in the central nervous system, it can cause an interruption to the brain signals - affecting how our bodies function. During birth, newborns frequently suffer subluxations. Subluxations are bones that are out of place, which put pressure on the nervous system. Many women find hospitals to be a stressful environment. During a stressful child birth, the cervix cannot dilate and in turn can cause birth trauma such as subluxations
If the body cannot function properly due to pressure on the nervous system, it will suffer from disease. Since the peripheral nervous system's function is controlling the gastrointestinal system (digestive system), digestive disorders are common among mental illnesses.
ADHD is a deficiency in the body that cannot be cured with medication. To treat a disease (mental or physical), your body requires enzymes. Enzymes (such as those found in organic raw foods) will predigest food properly, to allow the metabolic enzymes to be in full use for rebuilding new and healthy tissues and bones, ultimately curing disease. Without food enzymes, our bodies are forced to use the digestive enzymes (found in our body) that are in competition with metabolic enzymes, which will result in limited tissue repair. 80% of our immune system, which fights off disease, is in the gut flora. Pro-biotics are healthy bacteria needed to repair the gut after the use of anti-biotics. Heal your body naturally and have a trusted chiropractor assist you in this healing process.
UPDATE: Detoxing your body can realign your spine and heal your organs. Read more here.

A Red Tea With Milk

Red rooibos tea is caffeine-free, rich with minerals and contains anti-oxidants! We've previously made a Red Latté (with steamed oats milk), but this version is one of our favorites during our cleansing period. We added some homemade almond milk once our tea cooled down to 108°, in order to keep the enzymes. It's also great for keeping warm in these cooler days! Check out the simple almond milk recipe below. Enjoy!

What is age?

"Your body grows old and so does your mind when it is burdened with all the experiences, miseries and weariness of life; and such a mind can never discover what is truth. The mind can discover only when it is young, fresh, innocent; but innocence is not a matter of age. It is not only the child that is innocent - he may not be - but the mind that is capable of experiencing without accumulating the residue of experience. The mind must experience, that is inevitable. It must respond to everything - to the river, to the diseased animal, to the dead body being carried away to be burnt, to the poor villagers carrying their burdens along the road, to the tortures and miseries of life - otherwise it is already dead; but it must be capable of responding without being held by the experience." - Jiddu Krishnamurti

Sugar And Obesity

A test in 1970 was conducted, where women and men of normal weight, and others averaging 184 pounds (for women) and 205 pounds (for men), were given varying strengths of sucrose solutions and then dextrose. At first, the taste of sucrose was pleasant to those of normal weight, but after taking dextrose, a stronger dose of the sucrose became disagreeable with them. Those heavier in weight however, did not notice any unpleasantness regardless of the degree of sweetness. This was because their internal signals that regulated the intake of food, had been disturbed and unbalanced which corrupted the mechanism of their bodies.
When refined white sugar is consumed, the glands know the organism is loaded up with a lot of calories. It begins to search for the nutrients that normally go along with calories, but it cannot find any! This endless search for nutrients, that sugar does not provide, causes the body to have an increase in appetite because it is calling for the missing nutrients it craves!
Dextrose and sucrose are two names for essentially the same thing. All nutrients and enzymes in dextrose are removed during it's processing from corn.
